How We Research and Publish

Editorial Policy

Our goal is to document experiences of homelessness accurately, respectfully and without turning hardship into entertainment.

Homeless Celebrities publishes researched profiles about recognizable people who experienced homelessness or serious housing instability. Every profile should explain what happened and identify credible evidence supporting the claim.

Standard 01 Accuracy before volume

We would rather publish fewer reliable profiles than maintain a larger collection built on unsupported claims.

Standard 02 Clear classifications

We distinguish between street homelessness, shelter stays, vehicle living, couch-surfing and unstable housing.

Standard 03 Respectful language

Homelessness is described as an experience, not the person’s identity or defining characteristic.

Standard 04 Ongoing review

Content may be corrected, clarified or removed when stronger evidence becomes available.

What qualifies for inclusion

A person may qualify when credible evidence shows that they experienced:

  • Living or sleeping on the street
  • Staying in a homeless or emergency shelter
  • Living in a vehicle because permanent housing was unavailable
  • Relying on couches, floors or unstable temporary accommodations
  • Another documented period without safe and reliable housing

Poverty, childhood hardship, frequent relocation or supporting homeless causes does not automatically qualify someone for inclusion.

Sources we prioritize

Preferred evidence
  • First-person interviews
  • Autobiographies and memoirs
  • Established news organizations
  • Reputable biographies
  • Official records and authoritative sources

Celebrity listicles, anonymous social media posts, copied biographies and unsourced claims are not considered sufficient evidence by themselves.

Headlines and descriptions

Headlines should reflect the documented experience. When appropriate, we use specific wording such as “lived in a car,” “stayed in a shelter” or “couch-surfed.”

Advertising independence

Advertising does not determine who is included, how a story is written or whether a correction is made.

Artificial intelligence

Technology may assist with organization, editing or presentation. Claims about a person’s life must still be reviewed against credible sources. AI-generated statements are not treated as evidence.

Corrections and removals

When reliable evidence contradicts a published claim, we may revise the wording, add context, correct the page or remove the profile entirely.
