About This Project

Homelessness is a chapter, not an identity.

Homeless Celebrities documents the stories of recognizable people who experienced homelessness or serious housing instability before achieving success.

Why this website exists

Our goal is to share accurate, respectful and encouraging stories about recognizable people who experienced homelessness before finding success.

These stories are not published to sensationalize homelessness or reduce someone’s life to its most difficult period. They are published to provide perspective, challenge stereotypes and show that homelessness can affect people from every background.

What qualifies for inclusion

Poverty alone does not qualify someone for inclusion. We look for credible evidence of street homelessness, shelter stays, vehicle living, couch-surfing or another serious form of housing instability.

Credible sourcing Interviews, biographies, established publications and authoritative records.
Clear classifications We explain whether someone stayed in a shelter, vehicle, temporary housing or on the street.
Respectful language Homelessness is presented as an experience, not the person’s identity.
Ongoing corrections Profiles may be clarified, updated or removed when stronger evidence becomes available.

Who maintains the website

Homeless Celebrities is an independent research project owned and maintained by JL Faverio, a WordPress developer and SEO consultant based in Northern California.

Help us keep these stories accurate.

If you find an unsupported claim, discover a stronger source or know of a documented story we should investigate, please let us know.
